Application overview

A continuous seepage-control layer for managed pond systems

The photographs show water-filled and partially filled pond cells lined with black geomembrane. The liner separates stored water from the underlying soil and continues across the pond floor, formed side slopes and exposed perimeter above the waterline.

This type of system can support aquaculture ponds, hatchery water cells, irrigation storage and other managed-water applications. The final membrane grade and thickness must be selected from the water chemistry, substrate, depth, exposure, installation method and applicable project standard.

01

Seepage control

A continuous low-permeability barrier helps retain water and limits direct contact between the pond water and surrounding soil.

02

Welded continuity

Thermally welded panels allow floors, slopes and transitions to operate as one inspectable lining system.

03

Practical pond layout

Roll planning can be coordinated around multiple cells, access paths, anchor trenches, pipe penetrations and water-management equipment.

Design & installation focus

Plan the substrate, panels, anchors and hydraulic details together

A stable, smooth subgrade should be prepared before deployment. Panel orientation and roll widths are planned to reduce unnecessary seams, while perimeter anchor trenches restrain the lining at the crest. Pipe entries, corners and changes in slope require deliberate detailing.

Welding surfaces should remain clean and dry, and completed seams should be checked using the agreed quality-control method. For a quotation, calculate the floor, side slopes, anchoring allowance, overlaps and installation loss rather than using only the visible water area.
