Pressure-Activated Cold Patch Asphalt

Ready-to-use pressure-activated cold patch for compacted pothole and localized pavement repair in cold or damp maintenance conditions.

MaterialDense-graded mineral aggregate with formulated cold-patch asphalt binder
Key specificationConfirm aggregate grading, package weight, application temperature, lift thickness, density and shelf life against the selected grade’s technical data.
ApplicationsPotholes, utility cuts, edge breaks and localized municipal or highway maintenance
CustomizationAggregate gradation, binder formulation, climate grade, package size and test documentation reviewed per project
Packaging & deliveryPackage weight, artwork, pallet quantity and export wrapping are confirmed in the quotation.
Verification noteUse the selected grade’s current TDS, SDS and agreed test documentation to confirm the order specification.

Pressure-activated cold patch asphalt

This ready-to-use cold-applied repair mixture combines dense-graded mineral aggregate with a formulated asphalt binder. Compaction and subsequent traffic pressure help densify the repair and develop early stability without an on-site heating or mixing process.

Grade selection

  • Aggregate: Aggregate grading is confirmed for the selected grade and repair depth.
  • Package: Package weight, artwork, pallet quantity and export wrapping are confirmed in the quotation.
  • Lift thickness: Compacted lift thickness is confirmed for the selected grade, repair depth and available equipment.
  • Placement temperature: Application limits are confirmed against the selected grade’s technical data and site conditions.
  • Reference use: Estimate order quantity using the confirmed density, repair dimensions and site allowance.
  • Storage: Shelf life and storage conditions follow the selected grade’s technical data.

Dry, damp and water-filled potholes

Remove loose pavement, mud, debris and standing water before placement. For repairs in standing water, request a grade with matching test evidence and written installation instructions.

Placement, compaction and reopening

  1. Inspect the defect and correct unstable base, pumping or drainage problems.
  2. Remove loose material and standing water; prepare sound edges where the approved repair method requires them.
  3. Place the mixture evenly with a small allowance for compaction.
  4. Compact from the perimeter toward the centre using a hand tamper, plate compactor, roller or vehicle tyre appropriate to the repair size.
  5. For deeper potholes, repeat placement and compaction in controlled lifts.
  6. Reopen after the surface is adequately compacted, stable and approximately flush with the surrounding pavement.

Testing and execution-standard framework

Potential reference methods include ASTM C136/AASHTO T27 for gradation, ASTM D6927/AASHTO T245 for Marshall properties, AASHTO T283 for moisture susceptibility and ASTM D6704 for workability. Listing a method does not claim compliance. The quotation must identify the governing project standard and whether a current TDS, SDS, COA, third-party report or order-specific test is required.

Information needed for a quotation

Please send pothole dimensions and depth, pavement type, traffic duty, lowest placement temperature, dry/damp/standing-water condition, available compaction equipment, required package weight, estimated quantity, destination and the requested test standard or report.
