Pavement crack sealing tape is a preformed, roll-supplied sealing strip based on polymer-modified asphalt. It is placed over prepared cracks or joints to create a continuous surface seal without the large melting kettle required for hot-poured sealant.
Key product advantages
- Preformed roll format supports fast, controlled installation.
- No bulk hot-pour melter is required for the standard application method.
- Flexible strip follows straight or moderately curved pavement cracks.
- Available widths can be reviewed for different crack and joint conditions.
- Roll length, width, thickness, surface finish and packaging can be confirmed for the project.
Typical applications
Typical uses include asphalt pavement cracks, concrete pavement joints, bridge-deck maintenance, road-widening joints, municipal roads, parking areas and localized preventive sealing. Suitability depends on the crack condition, movement, pavement surface and approved installation method.
Product selection
Select the tape around pavement type, crack or joint width, required cover width, expected movement, service climate, surface texture, installation temperature and traffic condition. Smooth-surface and mineral-surfaced constructions should be treated as different options and confirmed before quotation.
Recommended installation sequence
- Inspect the crack and remove loose material, dust, moisture, oil and vegetation.
- Confirm that the pavement is stable, clean and dry enough for the selected tape and primer system.
- Position the strip centrally over the crack without excessive stretching, folds or trapped air.
- Press or roll the tape firmly to achieve continuous contact, paying special attention to edges, curves and intersections.
- Follow the approved grade instructions for primer, surface heating, overlap, traffic reopening and any protective treatment.
Surface preparation matters
Adhesion is strongly affected by dust, moisture, weak pavement, low surface temperature and irregular crack edges. The tape is a sealing material rather than a structural repair for unstable slabs, severe rutting, pumping, base failure or large moving cracks.
Quality and order confirmation
Before order, confirm appearance, dimensions, backing and release layer, flexibility, adhesion or bond method, temperature limitations, packaging and the current factory TDS. Exact performance values and compliance statements are supplied only when supported by the selected grade and matching test evidence.
Packaging, transport and storage
Rolls are protected with release material and packed in identified cartons. Store them flat or in the approved orientation, dry and away from direct sunlight, heat, ignition sources, deformation and damaged packaging. Package quantity and export protection are confirmed with the order.
